Brief
History
The Wilbur H. Anderson Memorial Scholarship Foundation, Inc. (WHAMSF)
was formed to reflect the life and works of the late Wilbur H. Anderson.
Elder Anderson was an associate minister of the Woodridge Bibleway
Church located in Washington, DC. He was a tireless and dedicated
servant of Jesus Christ. He had a special gift that attracted people
to him. He often preached and witnessed to people the love of God,
and invited them to his home to feed them. Elder Anderson often
went out of his way to assist people to find employment, pay bills,
counsel and transport the elderly to their doctor’s appointments.
He also had a wonderful prison and hospital ministry. He would often
visit the nursing and convalescent homes to sing and play the piano
for patients. He regularly assisted young people by helping pay
college expenses. He was a wonderful husband and father; truly a
loyal servant of Jesus Christ and people.
It is the mission of the WHAMSF, Inc. to continue his legacy by
aiding college students in the greater metropolitan Washington ,
DC area to attain their higher education goals, and lessen the financial
burden associated with the cost of tuition and books by awarding
scholarships to deserving recipients. It is by this endeavor, the
Christ-centered life and ideals of Elder Anderson will continue
to live on by investing in the lives of our youth.
In 2005, at our first scholarship ceremony, WHAMSF, Inc. awarded
$500 scholarships to three deserving students.
